2014 NBA All Star Weekend

Portland Trail Blazers sophomore point guard Damian Lillard will make history by competing in five NBA All-Star weekend events in 2014, but is the first-time All-Star the early favorite to win any of the competitions?
While the Slam Dunk Contest and Three-Point Shootout headline the events leading up to the actual All-Star Game, lesser attractions should still garner the fans' attention.
For example, the Shooting Stars competition will feature two father/son combos that include Dell Curry and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, as well as Tim Hardaway and New York Knicks swingman Tim Hardaway Jr.
NBA legends Karl Malone and Dominique Wilkins will also take part in New Orleans.
The Skills Challenge, which presents contestants with an obstacle course that favors players with superior ball-handling skills, will highlight a variety of youngsters. The field includes four rookies: Michael Carter-Williams, Victor Oladipo, Trey Burke and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

LeBron vs Durant

LeBron James usually gets the better of Kevin Durant but not tonight...
When this was over, Durant’s streak of 30-point games hit 12, and the Thunder’s winning streak increased to 10 games when OKC put a 112-95 pasting on the two-time defending champs.
“They beat us," James said. “Outclassed? I don’t know if I want to go that far with it."
He might when he views the tape. The Heat owned the first five minutes, taking an 18-point lead. Then over the final three-plus quarters, the Thunder did outclass James’ squad. OKC went on a 70-point rampage in the second and third quarters, making 11 three-pointers. The Thunder had 16 threes for the game — 13 more than the Heat — and did to Miami what the Heat does to everyone else, turning the Heat over 21 times for 25 points.
“They got whatever they wanted," James admitted.

62 for Melo

Carmelo Anthony really put on a show for the Garden when he went OFF for 62 POINTS!!!
“To be honest, coming into today’s game, I just had a different type of focus,” Anthony said after his career-defining moment. “Guys were asking me what was wrong before the game. Wasn’t really nothing wrong, just for some reason I had that. I was locked in from the beginning of the game, before the game. It was just a mind-set tonight.”
Anthony’s 62 points set a franchise record previously held by King, who scored 60 points 30 years ago. It’s also the most points scored at the current MSG, surpassing Bryant’s mark of 61 set nearly five years ago to the day. “It really didn’t sink in yet,” Anthony said. “What happened tonight, it still feels surreal for me.”
The previous Knicks single-game scoring record was set in 1984 by Bernard King.
